By January 25, 2025No Comments

Description: With the armed conflict in Sudan intensifying, the Sudanese Army has claimed victory over the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) in the capital of Khartoum. The claims were immediately denied by RSF officials who blamed the Army for spreading false information and propaganda in order to boost morale. The Sudanese Army claimed they have overtaken the Khartoum Bahri region after a siege imposed by RSF forces was broken into and neutralized. The US sanctioned Sudanese Army chief Abdel Fattah al – Burhan has reportedly been on the ground in the Al – Jili region, north of Bahri where army forces had total control of Sudan’s largest oil refinery. Fights have also been reported near El Fasher where joint forces comprised of army combatants, police officers and resistance groups opposed the RSF. The UAE has been accused of financing the RSF by the US and Sudanese officials.

Impact: The armed conflict in Sudan started to gasp onto larger regional repercussions as incited migrant, humanitarian and security crisis is worsening by the day. The international community, although constantly monitoring the conflict, has recently raised concerns about the implications it might have as the country battled severe humanitarian crisis that could spill onto neighboring countries at any moment. Without outside influence and potential intervention by international organizations, prolonged fighting and deepened civil and humanitarian crisis could stem regional catastrophe. Foreign influence such as the one alleged by the UAE showed regional geopolitical implications ran high, as the region was reported to be rich with invaluable natural resources.
